Overview
Heavy-duty shelves require strong fixings and careful weight distribution to ensure they stay in place without damage to walls.
Step 1: Select the Right Fixings
- Plasterboard → Use toggle bolts or hollow wall anchors.
- Brick/concrete → Drill holes and use expansion plugs.
- Timber studs → Install directly using long wood screws.
Step 2: Distribute Weight Evenly
- Use multiple brackets instead of relying on a single fixing point.
- Choose reinforced shelving brackets for extra strength.
Step 3: Secure the Brackets to the Wall
- Mark and drill pilot holes for precise placement.
- Install brackets firmly before attaching the shelf.
Step 4: Test for Stability
- Place the shelf onto brackets and ensure it is level.
- Apply gentle pressure to confirm stability.
