Floating Shelf Bracket 720x40x2.5mm

Gross Weight of the shelf must be considered when calculating weight capacity for your custom made floating shelf. This bracket can suit your custom floating shelves with shelf dimensions of up to 1500mm in length, up to 300mm in depth and a minimum of approximately 45mm or more in thickness. (use multiple brackets for longer shelves). Weight capacity of the bracket can be up to 20 to 25kg of evenly distributed load when fitted correctly to solid brick type walls. (depending on the wall type, fixings used, shelf size and most importantly the shelf depth). Weight capacity of floating shelf brackets decreases considerably when used to support deeper such as 300mm deep shelves compared with 250mm depth or longer shelves, or if fitted only to gyprock sheeting in cavity type walls. (weight capacity of the bracket will then be limited to the strength of the gyprock sheet and fixings used) The floating shelf bracket is fitted to the wall using your selected screws and fittings to suit the wall type, (masonry, drywall, stud cavity wall) and your custom shelf rebated to accommodate the brackets base piece and drilled/bored to suit the diameter and length of the bracket support rods. The shelf can be secured to the bracket screwing through two provided pre drilled holes in the support tubes, by small grub screws, alternatively by simply wrapping the rods with masking tape to achieve a tight fit. Note the support tubes have a slight upward angle to help compensate for any shelf droop when the shelf is loaded up, also the bracket must be fitted with the stamped arrow indicator facing upwards. The bracket base piece is 72cm long x 4cm deep and is 2.5mm thickness steel. Support tubes are 18mm diameter and 17.5cm long measured from front face of the bracket base. Multiple holes are provided for fixing to the wall, however extra holes can be drilled in the bracket base if required to coincide with wooden studs if fixing to a hollow cavity wall. (highly recommended). Maximum weight capacity is only achieved when installed correctly to good condition solid walls, or into wooden studs in a hollow gyprock type wall. Please note the weight rating of the bracket decreases as the shelf depth or length is increased. Hollow wall anchors can be used if fitting to cavity type walls available here. Minimum of 5 are required per bracket. A correctly installed bracket will have no visible movement between the brackets base plate and the wall surface when load is applied to the bracket rods. Floating shelves have weight capacity limitations.
